Have had the car 3 years %26amp; fear battery is on the blink Garage where serviced by previous owner has closed down also prev owner has no record of codeBought a second hand car a while back %26amp; it has a coded radio How do i find out code when i change battery?what car?

i know honda's and most cars have the code in the glove box, or they come with the paperwork for the car, generally stuffed in the manual.

If not you have to call a dealer and have them get the code for you which can sometimes cost you $$ sadly.

If it is the original radio that was fitted to the car you should be able to ring up the main dealer for that marque and for a small charge they will give you the code. You could alternatively buy a tool which you plug into your cigarette lighter socket while you change your battery which will stop the radio loosing its code.

You could try contacting the manufacturer - they may have a record, but the code may have been changed since they last saw it.
you could always try the frezzer trick. With some car radios it gets so cold it kinda forgets and u can listen to it or you could go to a car shop and they will charge u about a fiver to get the code and unlock it for you just try them no harm in trying is there
the easiest thing to do is go to a main dealer for the make of the car for example a Vokswagen main dealer and if you give them the registration of the vehicle they should be able to give you the radio code.
sometimes the sticker with the code is stuck on the inside of the door sils or behind the ashtray.
Gray is right on the money, I would use the memory retainer also. Plugs into the cig lighter.
got to eBay and buy some software that allows to put the number from the side of you radio in and you get the code for your radio....... i did
