2006 volkswagen beetle changing battery?

how to change out the battery on this car.2006 volkswagen beetle changing battery?First disconnect the positive and negative cables. Then in the front bottom of the middle of the battery you have bolt 13mm size.Unscrew it with long extension. Put the battery on a angle toward the windshield and pull up. This will take you about 10 to 15 minutes. After you change the battery you might have to put the code in your radio. Check your car manual for the code.

Having worked for VW for over 15 years, this battery replacement is not Easy due to the location of the battery on the drivers side.

1/ And the computer needs to be reset after battery is replaced.

2/ Dealership normally gets almost 1 hour to replace the battery and it takes that long using the proper tools and available Equipment only which is available at VW. Good luck

This vehicle will not shift or radio will not function properly, and other electrical devices on your car, with out having VW set the computer back to factory specs.

Go to Autozone, Pep Boys or most any other place that sells batteries. They will help you get the battery out for free if you are buying one from them. They will help install the new one, too, obviously.

Jump start the car to get it there.

Lots of VW procedures call for VW Special Tool # whatever. I've owned and maintained my own VW's for years, and never once used a special tool. They are mostly convenience items, not anything required. Battery access is fairly limited, but not impossible.

Look in the owner's manual for how to reset the car, or call a dealer. Honestly, I'm not sure about that one. The Beetle is a 4th generation Golf/Jetta chassis based on a '98 design. Yeah, I know some things have been updated, but I'm pretty sure that hasn't. I've never heard of having to reset a VW. I know Audi's up to 2002, Passats up to 2004, Golfs up to 2004 don't need anything like that at all. I'd be surprised if the Beetle did.

Ask other New Beetle owners at the forums of www.vwvortex.com (I tell everyone this, I know, but other owners will know).

Oh, as for the radio code, the owner's manual tells you how to enter that. If you don't find the code in your owners manual, a dealeship can tell you the code. Their procedures vary, but it will be cheaper than having them punch in the code. That part is easy.
