But would the starter make the battery not charge once i changed the battery the car was strarting fine?

There's two scenarios you are facing if a new battery - you either have a short or your alternator/regulator is not functioning properly.

A new, fully charged battery will slowly discharge if there's a slow drain in the system. You can measure the battery drain with a multimeter, taking into account there will be some slight drain from your ECM/radio.

If your alternator is not charging the battery, obviously this will eventually cause the battery to die, as will an alternator that appears to be putting output to the battery, but the regulator is not allowing it to put out the full charge. Again, you can test this.

But would the starter make the battery not charge once i changed the battery the car was strarting fine?It is actually up to the alternator to charge the battery (while you drive) not the starter. The starter won't make the battery go dead unless there is a problem with the starter.Your question sounds like you already replaced the battery and just want to understand what happened.

The alternator charges the battery not the starter.

Not certain that I understand ur question, but in any case, it's not the function of the starter to charge ur battery; it's the alternator's job. If ur having probs, I'd say to check the alternator.
Probably is an alternator problem. Get it checked out. It is somewhat common for the Diode Trio in an Alternator to fail. Badly shorted out batteries can cause this easily, especially if the car has a lot of miles on it.
If your battery isn't charging you need a new alternator.
A starter motor drains power from a battery when trying to start a car.

Once it has started the alternator recharges the battery when the

engine is running. If there is a fault within the starter motor electrically

then it could possibly drain the battery to the point where the car

wont start.
