I have heard that a 9volt battery will help, I think you make an adapter with a cig lighter plug on one end and 9 volt clip on the other end and plug into cig. lighter socket. I am not 100% sure, cause this is only what I've heard from somewhere. Wait for another answer, before trying mine. I have not tried this myself.

If you dont have the proper backup tools then you can connect a battery charger or jump leads on to your cars battery leads before you disconnect the battery but be carefull not to touch the positive terminal against anything earthed
If you make up a couple of wires about 2metres long with crocodile clips on both ends, before you remove the leads from the old battery prior to taking it out of the car you can clip one end of each wire to the battery connections and the other ends to the battery terminals themselves (you may need a second person to ensure they stay on when moving the battery), you can then remove the old battery and replace it with the new one, keeping the wires connected to the old battery. Once you are sure you have connected up to the new battery you can remove the crocodile clips from the old one! - job done.
do it the easy way . just leave the engine running
DO NOT - DO NOT - DO NOT - disconnect the battery with the engine running. It will cause a power surge and could blow expensive electronic components.

All you need as described before is a pair of jumper leads. Connect the jumper leads to the battery terminals you are removing and to a second battery along side the car ( pos to pos and neg to neg).

You can now remove the car battery keeping the jumper leads connected to the car terminals.

It is easier to remove battery clamps (retainers) and loosen terminals before connecting jumper leads.

Be very careful that the jumper leads or terminals do not short to ground or each other, wrapping a piece of rag around them would help solve this.

Re fit the new battery and connect terminals before disconnecting the jumper leads

Job done, no loss of codes or memories.
By what ever means - you need to keep power to the radio via the car wireing.
It would be easier just to find the code for your radio........
what you could do is connect the battery charger to the battery leads.tell everyone what you are doing so they don't turn off the switch or electric.but care is needed to not short out on the body work when thebattery leads are disconnected from the battery but still connected to the carger..so a old large cloth placed over the relevant part of the engine and body..to act as an insulator is prudent....remember the cable are a trip hazzard....and keep the doggie away as they will just walk though the cable....how do l know this..lol.
if you put a battery charger onto the leads to the battery this will keep power up
You can use jump leads or a battery pack (like the booster packs ) connect these to the leads before undoing the bolts but be careful not let them touch the body work or together.
