Can not changing your oil cause the alternator to overcharge the car battery?

There is no relationship from engine oil to an alternator. The voltage regulator inside the alternator has gone bad. Replace the alternator.

good luck. Can not changing your oil cause the alternator to overcharge the car battery? No , not a chance. The voltage regulator, ( probably within the alternator ) is the most likely problem

Hi,

Firstly, there's no relationship between the engine oil and the alternator. Forget about the engine oil change or it's effects on your car's electricals.

Your problem is here: The regulator is not a part of the alternator. It's a separate unit. It's designed to *cut*off* power from the alternator when the battery is fully charged. Your car's regulator is not working. It's broken. That is why it continues to supply power from the alternator to the battery. You need to replace the regulator *not* your battery.

The mechanic who replaced the alternator is either dishonest or a dimwit. He should have told you to replace the regulator *not* the alternator.

Go, fix this.
