Dead car battery after changing out key FOB battery?

I have a 99 Chevy blazer, and I replaced the battery in my key FOB last night. I went outside to try and sync the FOB with car (pressing Unlock and Lock simultaneously) but it didn't seem to work. When I came out and got in my car this morning, the battery was completely dead. We couldn't even get it to start with jumper cables. Will replacing the car battery work to solve the problem, or is there possibly some kind of sequence that is stuck and draining the battery that needs to be stopped first?Dead car battery after changing out key FOB battery? If you have a %26quot;chipped%26quot; key and didn't program it per the owners manuel, that is possibly the problem. Look into that first. If that's not the case, then maybe just a bad battery since it won't jump start. I dont really know how programming the FOB could kill the battery.

When you say that the battery is completely dead, are you basing that off of the results of an actual battery test, or off the fact that the engine won't start?

I am not familiar with your specific vehicle, but it's possible that it's in some locked-down security mode where it simply refuses to start.

if you can jump start it,take it to a auto zone or advance auto parts, and have them do a battery test and starting and charging test, its free to have them do that, both of them also charge batterys free if it just needs recharged, then we can go from there
