Could changing the battery on car keys cause the car to not start at all? 10 Points!?

Earlier today the keys wouldnt open the car doors, it just showed the light for locking it but not for openong it, so we changed the battery %26amp; tried it again but it still wouldnt work (nothing now not even the locking lights). We Put the old battery back again and still nothing worked not even the previous locking light i seen first time. We found a way to get into the car via passenger door, we tried the key in the gig and it wouldnt start but it did make a noise (like an indicator sound) and it displayed no seatbelt sign, but now nothing works at all! Its like as if the car is dead! Please help I badly need this car up and running! Its very worring! Car is 02 Nissan Primera, Automatic, Petrol, 1.8, Any other info needed just ask and i'll be happy to reply! Its possible if your car has a immobiliser fitted that in removing the battery has disturbed the chip in the key, you may have to go to a main agent/dealer to get your key checked out.

I agree with the car battery being faulty. this is easy to test if you take it to any garage.

It is definitely not the key, however now that you have changed the key in the battery you may need the key reprogrammed to the car.
It sure sounds like the immobilizer is mad at you. Try the procedure in the source. If still no good, you can try disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes to reset everything and then doing the procedure again.
first, make sure your car battery is good. no matter how good your remote is, if you have a dead car battery, it wont have power to unlock your door or even start your engine. it may have still very little juice to light up your dashboard to show you the seatbelt and other warning.

second, if the car bettery is good, and the remote battery is also good, then it should be a code probelm between your remote and the car. its hard to believe that the code would change by itself by simply changing the battery, so more likely is on the car side. it may just need to reset.

go online and search for %26quot;how to program remote key (transpondant key) for your nissan), you should find step by step procedure to do it yourself.

last of all, it may just be dead battery on either your car or the remote.

good luck.
It could be your battery is to weak to start your car. Have it jump start first, if its starts, change your battery. Hope this help!
