Changing out a car battery?

Other than disconnecting the old battery, putting in the new one and re connecting it is there anything I should know/do when I change my battery?

Also, what do you disconnect and than connect first? The postive or negitve?|||You have the steps down perfectly - disconnect and remove old battery, insert and connect new battery - job done.

You can disconnect either one in any order.|||When upon changing the battery turn off all your accessories, turn he key off and keep the doors shut, in other words have everything that has powers turn off by not doing so you could cause a draw that could cause a dangerous spark, clean your terminals and then when you install your new battery always hook neg, first.|||make sure it is secured to the car. Make sure the contacts are clean. make sure the acid gunk is cleaned from connetors.use wire brush. sometimes they give you the little felt rings , use those.

for old batt

disconnect negative, then positive

for new batt

connect positive, then negative.|||Ream the inside of the old terminals if they are crusty to ensure a good connection. Make sure your tools only touch one terminal at a time.|||I bought a small device that plugs into the cigarette lighter. The object of that is to keep the readings on the computer and also keep the clock time current and if the radio has a code and is not known, this will keep that code on the radio. You might want to look into this item plus what everyone else said.|||Bring it to the store and they might do it for you plus they%26#039;ll throw your old battery for you.
