I have a Fiat Bravo 1.2 (2001)...i think the battery went dead months ago and i only just changed it, but it doesn't work, so does it mean i have to reprogramme it? How do i reprogramme it, can i do it myself or do i have to go to a specialist Fiat Garage?

Yes you have to re program it
If you have the Owners Manual it will tell you how.
Normally you have a certain amount of time from the time you take out the battery to getting the new one in so you do not have this problem. But you have to change it before the battery looses all power.

How to check which cell has a problem in a car battery?
I changed my car battery last year. But in this winter, the battery keeps being drained. I had the people from whom I bought the battery from checked it. they said somewhere is draining the battery.
Now I had the battery checked by a service dealer. They said one of the cells in the battery is bad.
How can I tell who is telling the truth? Is there a way I myself can check the battery? How to tell a cell in the battery is good or not?
BTW, I think I am pretty technical oriented and like to buy some small tools to do it.

It should read a volt or two higher than before, for a few minutes, anyway. If it doesn't, the alternator may need changing. A large auto parts store will test it for free, Advance Auto, for one, will test it while it's still on the car. Of course, I had a Toyota Corolla once that wouldn't charge, and it turned out that a lone wire running down beside the engine, with an in-line fuse holder that was completely corroded, was at fault.

They suck up the fluid from each individual cell so you can compare them. If you have one that's more than .050 lower than the next lowest one, that cell's dead.
Checking for a drain, if you have an ammeter, connect it between the negative battery terminal and post with everything off. It shouldn't read more than about 250 mA. If it doesn't have auto-range, be careful not to open the door, or accidentally honk the horn.
If all you have is a 12 volt test light, you can make sure it goes off after you unplug fuses for everything that should have a drain, like ECM, radio, BCM if equipped, etc.. If it doesn't go off after that, keep unplugging stuff until it does, to isolate which circuit.
P.S. also take out the bulb on the under-hood lamp if you have one.It won't do any good. If the battery's bad, you need a new one. You can take the battery to a parts store and have it tested for free or put the battery in another car and see if it does the same thing.

Changed battery in car and car turns over but won't start?
I have a car that I have not been driving and it has been sitting since October. On Saturday I finally was able to dig her out (plowed in) and needed to start the car with a jump. Car ran and I drove her about 30 miles to my house. Next morning I went to start car but the battery was totally dead.
So I bought a new battery and installed.
The car now turns over but won't catch to start
Then I noticed the battery light comes on when I am trying to start car
I put dry gas in the tank because I am thinking maybe water got in there?

The car might need to be upgraded, since by what I read sat for a long time. Is this an old car or new car ? If old, tune-up might be a good solution to your problem. Also, your starter might be wearing out, maybe it's time that you got it replaced. You should go to a mechanic shop and ask somebody there to see what's wrong with it for you. They usually charge a little fee to look at it though, but you won't be sure unless you took it to be checked.
First, have you checked the battery cables, are they corroded, dirty or broken ? If so, they need to be replaced. Have you checked all your fluids and made sure that they're properly filled ?
Well, after you checked the problem that I've listed and nothing still happens. I'd say take in and have it checked it out so you'll know for sure and how much it'll cost you to get fixed. Unless you know somebody that works on cars and knows how to fix whatever the problem may be and save you money.

Battery was failing, but still good enough to take a jump start and get you 30 miles. In the process, you pulled in some bad gas, either clogging the filter or gumming up the carb or both. New battery came with a charge in it, but trying to start the engine in the cold ran the charge down to the point where your battery light goes on.
So, charge the battery, shoot some starting fluid in the air intake, and try to start it again. If it catches and runs for a moment and then dies, you have a fuel problem. If it won't catch, try a couple more times, and then test the spark by holding a screw driver in one of the plug wire boots up near the engine block and looking for spark.
Trouble shoot from there.If the vehicle cranks over good, you have to determine if you have a fuel or ignition problem. An ignition problem - simple to check to see if you have spark at the plugs and a fuel pressure check only takes a few minutes.
Good luck.Engine is probably flooded. Hold the gas pedal to the floor, and try starting it again. When a battery goes bad, the strain can cause fuel to dump into the engine when voltage is dropping to starter while attempting to start. Good Luck!!i have many invention ideas programming

How does one re-program the remote clicker for an old (1992) Clifford car alarm after the battery is changed?
It is installed in a '92 BMW e36. It has a black rocker switch and the regular valet button. I believe it to be some combination of the button and the switch then click the remote to establish a link but do not know which.
