I have a 2004 Mazda 6 and I cannot start the car if I did not drive it for a full day. If I do drive it, then all is well. I took it to Kragen and they told me that there might be a short somewhere in my electrical system that is draining the power from the batteries.
The only changes I made to my car is a custom intake. Any ideas as to what might be causing this drain? Could it just be a bad battery?Car battery dies after a day without driving.?the simple solution is to get another battery first. if that doesnt help, check the alternator and then look for electrical probs else where. you may have wires that have split or come loose somewhere which can be hard to find. in my experiance a new battery solves the prob 75% of the time.Car battery dies after a day without driving.?Check the fuses.Car battery dies after a day without driving.?Contrary to the one sizzle-chest, a new battery is not a %26quot;simple solution%26quot; when batteries cost upwards of $75.
1) Remove the battery and take it to Autozone. They will load test it for free. If it tests bad, replace it. If its good, move on to the alternator.
2) Remove the alternator and take it to Autozone. They will test it as well.
3) Assuming both of the above are good, start checking for electrical leakages that are drawing down the battery. Could be an interior lamp, the radio clock, etc. Test the battery while hooked up to the car and see if the battery is being drawn down. The challenge will be track it down from there.Yes i have bought new batteries that have had bad cells, if the batterie has a bad cell it will drain it.It certainly could be just a bad battery - but before you replace it on just a hunch, check the vehicle for a draw. This is a quick and inexpensive check.maybe wrong with alternator , it drains the battery
