did not even change the battery all together. just took of the positive terminal added a new amplifier cable and put it back. can't start the car since then. ???Just changed a battery in chevy astro van. the starter is rotating but the car will not start up. ??? thanks?some vehicles require the anti-theft device to be reset after power is disconnected from the system (battery removed) check the owners manual . As the last resort call W Mart and ask one of their battery guys.

ya the starter sounds bad.you could try tapping it with a hammer to see if you can get the solinoid to push the gear out to the flywheel. but the starter sounds bad! Sorry dude.

if the starter is turning and not the engine it could be a bad starter and just a coincidence that it happened at the same time as you worked on it.
