From time to time my car does not start. I recently changed my battery but my car still acts up. Please assist?

Don't know too much about cars. Do you think it needs a tune-up. Not sure why its not starting. Can someone please help? From time to time my car does not start. I recently changed my battery but my car still acts up. Please assist? It could be the fact that you need a new alternator, you might need new spark plugs and wires, as well as a new distributor cap and distributor rotor, and your starter could possible be going out. I suggest that you go to an auto parts store and get the Haynes guide on your car. It has everything you need to know on how to work on your car yourself because its a complete tare down and rebuild of the car. Plus you save so much money when you do the work yourself.

Depends what car it is 1st as most makes have common problems, has it had regular services etc. I would start off with the basics and change all the sparks, plugs, is the alternator charging the battery ? is the starter motor ok, oil levels ok..any interior lights on the dash displayed etc etc....Just phone a garage and explain the problem but a full service will solve the problem if not discover it hopefully......

if your car is turning over but not starting try changing the fuel filter.dependingg on the yr. of the car will determine if it is fuel inj. or carb.inj systems need 45 to60lbs of fuel pressure to the inj.to start engine tune up on your car will always help your engines performance.
it could be a few things,

1) it could be the alternator (thats the generator that recharges the battery as you drive)

2) spark plugs/ ignition

of course there are things like the distributer cap too (if any water gets in there your car wont start, i recommend seeing a mechanic)
