How to change a car battery?
Unplug the positive (red) then the ground/negative (black), then plug in the new battery ground/negative (black) first, then plug in the positive (red). Its easy.
take the negative cable off first and then take off the positive

make sure you take negative off first

then remove the battery and hook positvie then negative or you'll short your car
buy a battery at auto zone or advanced auto and ask if they can put it in for you. they did it for me.
first remove cables and bush them clean cable ends and battery post get dirty cant see the inside by looking have to remove to clean easy and always first thing to do next it try to jump start it and drive to any shop or parts store to check charging system before guessing abd spending money on wrong part but to remove battery loose two nuts on battery cables remove hold down strap or nut or bolt and lift it out not hard type in search box how to remove battery video or how to clean battery cables video
The same way you take out the old one. Take out the battery and reverse the process

My car stereo died after changing my battery. The fuse is fine. What could it be?

Last week I was driving my newly purchased 1994 Honda Accord and the battery started dying. I went to the auto parts store, they verified it was the battery and not the alternator, and I bought a battery, which I replaced right there. However, the radio isn't working now. I replaced the fuse, thinking it may have somehow blown, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas if the radio may have somehow shorted out? Thanks. My car stereo died after changing my battery. The fuse is fine. What could it be?I think you have to punch in the security code into the radio. It's an antitheft measure. Ask your Honda dealer and check your car's owner's manual. Download your owner's manual free here:

How much cost Car Battery Change?

I got my Car Battery replaced. the mechanic charged me $85 for the battery and labor. Was that a decent deal? How have you paid? How much cost Car Battery Change? You got a good deal. depending on the brand of battery, which you did not post, the average battery price is $55 up to $85 (for cold cranking amps and warranty), usually labor for installation is $10-$15. Sounds like you found an honest mechanic

Usually $50 is the price I've always seen. I think you may have overpaid, but I wouldn't say you got ripped off. As long as it works, you should be glad to get it done! :)

Thats about right.
Labour? for what?

Where are you? I got a top-of-the-line RACV battery for $100 and 2years later it ran out, so I took it back and they replaced it for nothing. (it had a 3year warranty)

I you want a semi-decent battery it'll cost you at least $50. if you buy it from a garage that price should include installation and disposal of your old one.

p.S. I'm in Australia
ya not bad a good bat. is 45 to 85 $ so you did ok
why pay for someone to change your battery in the first place, walk into an auto zone and buy one and change it yourself. i've paid 85 for a battery before and did it myself you may have gotten a 40 dollar battery and paid someone 45 dollars to change it.... check prices on the battery you just bought you may have gotten a good deal or maybe not
Some states or it may be federal now, not sure have an automatic disposal and recyling fee on batteries and car tires. We do in Texas. In fact you pay an extra 20 bucks if you do not trade in your old battery.

  • Just changed my car battery and the stereo won't work, why?

There were electrical problems and I needed a new battery in my car. Now the stereo won't work, there is no power to it whatsoever. What do you think happened? Are there any quick fix solutions, or do you think I have to get a new stereo?Just changed my car battery and the stereo won't work, why? Many stereo's have a code that needs to be entered if they are removed from a power source. It is a %26quot;theft deterrent%26quot;. Check with your car's manufacturer to see if they would be able to help. Good luck.
Just changed my car battery and the stereo won't work, why?
HOPEFULLY IT JUST BLEW THE INLINE FUSE.
Just changed my car battery and the stereo won't work, why?
Make sure your radio is grounded, alot of times it is grounded by a wire from your radio to the negative post of your car battery. If that is'nt the problem then check your fuse because it may have blown out durring replacement of you battery.

    Good luck
If it's a modern car, you will need to pin in the code to reset the stereo. Just another wiz bang silly additive on modern cars.

Any help would be great. Going back to the place, and calling the dealership tomorrow. Thanks!I changed my car battery and now the speakers won't work.?There is most likely an amp in your vehicle. Been there with your car before. There is a seperate fuse just for your amp. One fuse is labled %26quot;radio%26quot;, thats the one that is still good, and one should be labled %26quot;audio%26quot;. if there are no lables like that in the fuse box, simply use a test light to test each fuse. hope that helps. If all else fails, your amp might have gone bad.

you probably have a fuse for the factory amp. it may have popped.

Blew fuses trying to change battery to car...HELP?
Well, if you blew fuses, you need to replace them.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_3384_replace-ele鈥?/a>

If that doesn't fix things, you might have also burned up wires, diodes, or computer circuits when you reversed your battery. Fixing things like that will require replacement of damaged parts.
Blew fuses trying to change battery to car...HELP?
Before you go any further check to make sure you haven't cooked the battery off. this can happen in a flash. take it back out and go to the auto parts store and have it tested. Then go to the fuses, both under the dash and in the engine compartment. Change out any that are blown and pull your relays to make sure you did not cook off a terminal on one of them. Put them back when you are done checking. relays are fairly sturdy and if you haven't cooked off a terminal then they are probably OK. (Not guaranteed just probably). I think it's more than likely that you cooked off a cell in the battery itself. basically you shorted out the battery.
