Remove the negative terminal first.
That way, the wrench hitting the car body metal, whether from the + or - terminal, will not cause a dangerous short-circuit.

But if you are like 90% of the typical goofball population then you should disconnect the negative first, this is only for safety, there is no damage that can be done by disconnecting one before the other.
